Simon Monjack pours cold water on speculation that his actress wife might die of drugs overdose or eating disorder.
The cause of Brittany Murphy's sudden death hasn't been determined yet, but her husband of three years Simon Monjack has deflated mounting speculation that she was anorexic and possibly died of drugs overdose. "These rumors that she was anorexic? It's crazy - she was slim, but that was her natural physique," the British screenwriter tells People. "This is what's killing all of us? How did it happen? Her mum, myself and her family - we want to know why we lost our baby."
When asked about his earlier statement that Murphy had laryngitis days leading to her weekend passing, Monjack explains the 32-year-old actress opted to treat the illness with herbal tea, ginger and lemon instead of chemical drugs. "She was on herbal remedies that wouldn't speed up her heart," he explains. "There was nothing here that could endanger her; there was prescription medication in the house for her female time and some cough syrup. That was it."
In further interview with the weekly publication, Monjack claims he sticks to doctors' information that Murphy died of cardiac arrest. "My initial reaction to the autopsy was - they're going to cut her open - I couldn't bear it," he continues revealing. "That would break her mother, but we realized we needed to know. I look forward to getting the results."
As of the press time, cause of Brittany Murphy's death is still pending, awaiting "toxicology, neuropathology [brain analysis], and histiopathology [analysis of other organs]" tests which will take four to six weeks to complete.
