The Ex

Sunday, October 24, 2010

Every time I think of a carnival, I think of the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto or the CNE or "Ex" as its knows as. It always held a place close to my heart as a child. It is set in the last month of summer so if i was feeling bummed about going back to school I always had the Ex to give me one last thrill ride of the summer. We went every year. Each year I felt as if it was bigger and better than the last. The midway, (although terribly overpriced I found out later on in life) was the greatest place. Every year new adventures and rides to try out as well as old favorites. And I cannot forget the food. The food building had every type of food you could ever want. It was like a small trip around the cuisine of the world. Carnivals treats were a must of course. Candy apples, cotton candy, and popcorn were the staples of joy holding my life together. The atmosphere was also a main draw for me. I would be having fun even when our family wasn't doing anything, their was excitement in the air and people were having a great time. The carnival, the Ex especially, are some of my fondest childhood memories.
