Movie Mazzupial's 10 worst films of 2010

Wednesday, December 29, 2010

And so, as promised, yet another of my annual movie lists. Overall 2010 has been a pretty standard year for cinema. There have been the solid efforts like The Kids Are All Right, the groundbreakers like Inception, and the disappointments like Iron Man 2. Then there have been the baddest of the bad, like Charlie St Cloud. The films that have irked me so much, I dare put them on my list of 10 worst films of 2010. In no particular order:

Sex and the City 2
Letters To Juliet
The Last Airbender
Valentine's Day
Greenberg
Skyline
Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky
30 Days of Night: Dark Days
Dear John
The Book Of Eli
So there you have it. Agree? Disagree? Let me know in the comments section below.

What the people want, the people shall get

Saturday, May 23, 2009

The progress of Twilight sequel New Moon continues to create more hype than the latest Eminem album and Entertainment Weekly is all over it like white on rice. They’ve managed to get the first pics from the set of New Moon with a breakdown of each image by director Chris Weitz. Click here to view their gallery. In more teen-vampire related news, it is 100% certain David Slade will be directing the third Twilight novel, Eclipse. How interesting that my least favourite of the four novels will be getting my favourite of the directors to date. Slade is the man behind Hard Candy and the delicious horror 30 Days Of Night. The film is listed as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse on the Internet Movie Data Base and is tagged with a June 30, 2010 release date for the US. Pre-production is already underway and filming is due to start before the end of the year in Vancouver.

30 Days of Fright!

Friday, November 7, 2008

In your face sceptics! To all those people out there who said a sequel couldn’t be done, I mock you with my laughter. Mwahahahaha. Horror movie website BloodyDisguting.com received confirmation from Mandate Pictures yesterday that they’re currently working on a sequel to 30 Days of Night. For those of you unfamiliar with this film 30 Days of Night was one of my favourite horror movies of 2007 and starred Melissa George and Josh Hartnett. Shot mostly in New Zealand by British director David Slade (of Hard Candy brilliance) it made a considerable profit given its small budget and debuted at number 1 at the US Box Office. Altogether it made $40 million in America based on ticket sales alone. Adapted from the first in a series of graphic novels by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith, 30 Days of Night depicts an Alaskan towns struggle to survive its annual 30 days of darkness when its attacked by a bloodthirsty gang of vampires. The sequel is to follow the order of the graphic novels and will centre around Stella’s journey to get revenge on the vampires who destroyed the love of her life. No word yet as to whether Melissa Geogre will be back to reprise her role but the incredible Ben Foster is returning as `The Stranger’ so hopefully that might encourage a few of the other cast members. Stay tuned for more updates.
