Mother and child: Jennifer Lopez arrives with her son Max to board the Dolce & Gabbana yacht in Cannes

Any seafarer will tell you that the secret to coping with a rolling deck is to keep a sure footing.

But it's a bit of salty sea advice that has clearly failed to make its way to Jennifer Lopez.

The 40-year-old Hollywood star was spotted in a pair of killer heels as she made her way towards the Dolce & Gabbana yacht in Cannes yesterday.

The vertiginous shoes would make anyone feel wobbly on their feet, so it's little wonder she had to grip the railing as she tottered along with son Max on her hip.

J-Lo, her husband Marc Anthony and Max's twin sister Emme have been enjoying the fantastic weather with their rich and famous friends.

The actress has seemingly been aboard every multi-million-pound floating palace in her travels, and yesterday it was the turn of her good friends Dolce & Gabbana.

It wasn't all plain sailing, however, as her heels left her in an unflattering pose as she tried to scramble onto the yacht.

After being helped aboard, she regained her composure and was spotted with her arm around Domenico Dolce as they relaxed with friends.

J-Lo and Antony have also been recently gracing the decks of Sir Phillip Green and Lakshmi Mittal.

This would all be okay if they were homeless in the south of France, but the couple have their own yacht - rented from pal Roberto Cavalli - for the durastion of their stay at the Cannes Film Festival.

Old friends: Finally able to relax, J-Lo drapes an arm around Domenico Dolce as she chats with friends. Later it was back to her yacht, rented from Roberto Cavalli

Lopez and Anthony are hiring the £20m yacht, which has been owned by Cavalli for six years. He has previously rented it out to celebrity friends Mariah Carey - who stayed on it during the 2009 Cannes Film Festival - and Victoria and David Beckham five years ago.

The couple have visited Nice, Cannes, Monaco and St Tropez during their trip to the French Riviera with two-year-old Max and Emme.

And one runabout: It wasn't all million-pound pleasure craft, as J-Lo and Emme left the Eden Roc Hotel

It was in Monaco that they ran into Sir Phillip, who invited them to come visit him and his wife and children aboard their yacht in Cannes.

But it wasn't all luxury pleasure craft. J-Lo was seen holding Emme as she bobbed about on a small runabout leaving the Eden Roc Hotel.
