Octomum channels The Mask as she cares for her supersized brood

The paps love nothing more than catching a celebrity unaware and without make-up, so imagine their surprise and joy when Octomum - aka Nadya Suleman - emerged from her California home resembling Jim Carrey's character in Nineties film The Mask.

Showing the super mum talents that enable her to raise 14 children - including her 11-month-old octuplets - Suleman, 34, was sporting a green face mask, Victoria's Secret pyjamas and a white robe and slippers.

Looking slim, she somehow managed to carry two of her children while collecting a newspaper, checking the mail and bringing in her garbage bin.

Hands full, she toted a baby bottle full of juice in her mouth.

Suleman is rarely spotted away from her home in La Habra, California - south of Los Angeles.

The birth of the octuplets sparked a public furore in January after it emerged that Suleman was a jobless single mother who already had six children.
Of the eight babies, there were two girls and six boys.

She has been accused of exploiting her brood after it emerged she had signed up for a fly-on-the-wall reality series.

Suleman is believed to be getting paid around £152,000 for the show and stands to pocket £2million for merchandising and television deals.

Suleman, in a US TV interview, rejected claims she was selfish and would not be able to care for her brood, saying: 'I know I'll be able to afford them when I'm done with my schooling.

Similarity: Suleman's look offers a nod to Carrey's character in The Mask

'If I were just sitting down, watching TV and not being as determined as I am to succeed and provide a better future for my children, I believe that would be considered to a certainly degree selfish.'

Protests have been held outside her home, her car was damaged in an attack and two PR companies that agreed to represent her quit after receiving death threats.

The babies will celebrate their first birthday on January 26.
