It probably wasn't quite the dramatic entrance she had hoped to achieve.

Performing at a Florida hotel, pop diva Mariah Carey descended from the ceiling on a swing, wearing a gold basque and enough tulle netting to smother a fairy godmother.

But the lower she got, the more she seemed to be edging somewhat intimately close to one of her male dancers.

He gamely kept his choreographed position, arms outstretched and eyes raised, as the singer neared the stage.

At one point, she even seemed to be perched on his head.

Fortunately for Miss Carey's modesty, however, it wasn't a close encounter but simply a question of camera angles.

The dancer was actually a step or two behind her to ensure her safety as she stepped off the swing and on to the stage at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Earlier this week Miss Carey caused a stir by wearing a dress that exposed rather too much breast at the Golden Globe awards in Los Angeles, giving American newspapers a rather obvious choice of headline.
