Dowdy Kate Hudson puts on the style after a day's house-hunting

Day and night: Kate Hudson ditched her boho chic for high-wattage glamour as she attended a party thrown by jewellers Chopard in New York last night


Kate Hudson looked more bag lady than Hollywood star as she went house hunting in New York yesterday afternoon. But it didn't last long.

By the evening she was back to her red carpet best as she glammed up for an event held by jewellers Chopard.

Earlier in the day, Kate opted for a boho chic look in a maxi dress, and loose jacket teamed with canvas and leather boots.

With at least three layers covering up her curvy figure, she pounded the pavements with an estate agent to check out new living quarters in the Big Apple.

But later she finally ditched her wardrobe of jackets and coats to reveal her shapely figure in a slip of a grey silk dress with spaghetti straps at the event to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Chopard at New York art museum The Frick Collection.

Earlier this month a report in Us Weekly claimed that Kate has had cosmetic surgery to increase the size of her bustline.

The magazine's story was accompanied by a photo of the actress on holiday in Miami wearing a bikini top, appearing to have a slightly fuller bust than usual.

And last night it appeared that she had confidently gone braless under the lightweight dress she was wearing giving some support to the reports.

Other guests in attendance included a radiant Gwyneth Paltrow and petite actress Christina Ricci, who looked stunning in an apple green column dress.

Gwyneth wore a stunning floor-length lace gown with a cowl-shaped back by Antonio Berardi.

The A-listers were joined by a host of stars at the bash, including Claire Danes and Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman.
