Treat: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt treat their four oldest children to ice cream today after arriving in Venice last night

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gave the tourists of Venice an extra sight to see today when they were spotted treating their children to ice cream.

After keeping a low-profile amidst rumours of relationship trouble in recent months, the couple were seen with all six of their children today for the first time in ages.

The superstar couple jetted into Italy's canal city yesterday afternoon in preparation for a three-month stint while Jolie films her new movie The Tourist.

And after sleeping off the jetlag at their new digs at the 15th century Palazzo Mocenigo, Jolie and Pitt decided to give their four oldest children a taste of a local delicacy - ice cream.

The couple are renting out the stunning canal-side Palazzo, which is situated between the Rialto and Accademia parts of the city and faces San Toma.

After arriving in a private plane at Marco Polo Airport on Monday afternoon, the family took two speedboats - one for their huge amount of luggage and another for the children - to their new home.

Jolie, 34, isn't expected to begin filming until March 15 which gives the family plenty of time to get to know the maze of streets and canals of Venice.

Earlier today, the couple left their 19-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne at home with the nannies as they took their four other children out for ice cream

All four children were wrapped up in coats and hats to protect them from the chilly weather, while blue-eyed Shiloh Nouvel, three, showed her cheeky side as she wore a monkey hat complete with oversized ears.

Holding tight to daddy's hand was five-year-old Zahara Marley, while boys Maddox, seven, and Pax Thien, six, skipped alongside their stunning mother.

After the sugary treat, Pitt, 46, made a brief stop at an off-licence to pick some alcohol for the adults.

A few hours earlier, the couple then stepped out with their youngest children Knox and Vivienne, who have been rarely seen in public

Their move to Venice is yet another new location for the couple's increasingly nomadic existence.

After spending the past few months in Los Angeles, it appears the Jolie-Pitt family are suffering from itchy feet again.

In recent years, the Jolie-Pitts have lived in Cambodia, France, New York, New Orleans and Los Angeles.

Jolie admitted in an interview several years ago that their nomadic lifestyle was hard on the children.

Family union: Jolie and Pitt looked like a regular family as they walked along the ancient streets of Venice with their brood

She said: 'It's hard, and maybe one day we'll have to stay in one place. I'm sure (the kids are) going to be 18 and say, "God, I just want to stay in one place." They'll never want to leave home.'

Their arrival in Venice comes after a low-key Valentine's Day for the couple, who recently threatened legal action over reports they were about to split.

The pair, who have been together for five years, invited friend Sean Penn to join them at their LA mansion.

Jolie's new film The Tourist co-stars Johnny Depp and is being directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck.
