Cheryl's marriage 'crisis' over nude shots of Ashley

Cheryl Cole is said to be furious after photographs showing her footballer husband Ashley naked were sent to a topless model's mobile phone.

A friend said the couple's marriage had reached 'crisis point'.

Sonia Wild, 28, claims to have received the pictures of the Chelsea defender along with suggestive text messages.

She says replied with naked images of herself and claims she had 'text sex' with the player.

This will ensure a difficult time for 29-year-old Cole at home, where he will be spending more time than usual after breaking his ankle on Wednesday.

The £82,000-a-week footballer has admitted taking the pictures of himself on a mobile while staying with the England squad at a hotel in Watford.

But he denies sending them to Miss Wild, claiming he passed on the unregistered pay-as-you-go phone to close friend Jay Wynters, who in turn gave it to another friend.

That friend is said to have found the images and sent them to the model.

'Someone has used it to pretend to be me,' said Cole. 'I would laugh if my foot didn't hurt so much.'

This latest setback comes two years after the Coles went through a difficult period when hairdresser Aimee Walton claimed she had a one-night stand with the footballer.

A source close to Cheryl told the Daily Mail how the 26-year-old singer had been afraid of her husband becoming embroiled in another scandal in the wake of the John Terry incident.

She has been apart from him this week staying at a hotel in West London as she prepares to promote her hit album 3 Words across Europe.

The X Factor panellist has said that the next UK series will be her last because she wants to concentrate on starting a family with her husband.

'Cheryl has been a bag of nerves that something would happen,' said the friend. 'She knew that everyone would be digging up dirt on footballers and was so worried that Ashley would be caught up in something.

'The biggest question is whether she believes Ashley's excuses over these photos.

'Cheryl is a strong woman and she will not be leaving Ashley over headlines. She will make the decision for herself over their future - she will not be prompted by papers.

'But is she furious? Of course she is. Trust is a huge thing for Cheryl and right now, it looks like she is back to square one with Ashley.'
A source close to Cole told the Mail: 'This has been blown up beyond all proportion. Ashley has never met this woman.'

The model said the encounter came on June 9 last year, the night before England hosted Andorra in a critical World Cup qualifying match.

Cole spent the night at the five-star Grove hotel in King's Langley, Hertfordshire. He played 65 minutes of the 6-0 victory the following day.

Miss Wild said whoever sent the flirty messages continued the exchange for more than a month and, she claims, he begged her to meet him in America, but she refused. 'I had no idea it wasn't Ashley Cole,' she added.

She said she resisted the temptation to meet him because she'd been drunk while having 'text sex'.

Miss Wild said the texts began when she became friendly with Mr Wynters online.

She said: 'I have never met Jay in person but he had a picture of himself on his profile with Ashley Cole and another man who I think is also an England footballer.

'He said he had a friend who wanted to get in touch and asked if he could pass on my number. I asked who it was and he said it was the man with him in the picture. Now I know that was a lie.'

In 2008, Cole's marriage was rocked after hairdresser Aimee Walton claimed they had a one night stand.

Cole is not having a good time of it at all. On Wednesday night when he fractured his ankle in Chelsea's defeat by Everton - an injury that threatens to sideline him for three months and could even threaten his place in England's World Cup squad.

Sending indecent images over a phone is an offence punishable by up to six months' jail or a £5,000 fine.
