Feeling fragile: Cheryl arriving at Radio 1's studios in London today after admitting that she had had 'a couple of drinks' with some girl friends last night
Cheryl Cole has shot down Girls Aloud bandmate Nadine Coyle's hopes of a duet together, dismissing the idea as 'a bit weird'.
Nadine, who is following in the footsteps of Cheryl by launching her own solo career, said earlier this month she had written a track she would love to share with The X Factor judge.
However, during her performance on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge with Fearne Cotton today, a rather hungover Cheryl said she was only prepared to sing with all four bandmates.
When asked if she would duet with any of Girls Aloud, the 26-year-old said: 'Nah...
I think that's a bit weird. We'd have to do it all together or do it separately.'
Cheryl's comment comes two weeks after Nadine wrote on her Twitter page: 'I'm hearing stupid talk about Cheryl and I having a fall out. Def NOT the case. I've written a song I'd love for us to duet on. Stay tuned.'
During her appearance on the Live Lounge today, a hungover Cheryl performed an acoustic version of her current single Parachute and a cover of Owl City's Fireflies.
After spending most of last week in bed with bronchitis, Cheryl admitted she had enjoyed a girls' night out with a few female friends in London last night.
She said: 'I should be feeling all right... It felt like a good idea to have a couple of drinks with a couple of the girls last night, but maybe not now.
Super fan: Cheryl is approached by one of her biggest fans - wearing a T-shirt and carrying a bag with a photo of herself with the singer on it
'Maybe I shouldn't have drunk so much last night. So I’m actually feeling a little worse for wear today, but the bronchitis is gone.'
While the subject of Cheryl's estranged husband Ashley was strictly off limits, Fearne did question the singer over her friendship with Black Eyed Peas rapper Will.I.Am, who has publicly declared he fancies her
An embarrassed Cheryl feigned ignorance over the rapper's crush on her, saying: 'I'd work with Will for the rest of my career. He's inspiring, futuristic, creative, anything you'd want from a producer and also a person.'
When Fearne declared he was in love with her, Cheryl replied: 'Nah.'
Singing live: Cheryl performed an acoustic version of her song Parachute and a cover of Owl City's Fireflies
Despite recording her debut album in Los Angeles with Will.I.Am, the Girls Aloud singer said there were no plans to launch her career Stateside, conceding 'they don't know me out there'.
She explained: 'It's a massive thing to do to break the States. I would love to if the opportunity came to do it, then great. But I'm not overly ambitious about breaking the States.'
Cheryl also insisted she hadn't been approached to be a judge on the American version of The X Factor, admitting she didn't think U.S. audiences would understand her strong Geordie accent.
She said: 'It's a rumour [I've been approached]. They don't know me out there and I've got this weird accent. I love the thought of it and would love to do it.
Worse for wear: Cheryl, whose chorus to Parachute was often drowned out by backing singers, admitted she was hungover
'The talent out there is phenomenal but whether they would want me is another thing. I don't think they would get a buzz off me.'
At the beginning of her performance of Parachute, a nervous Cheryl removed her killer heels, but was horrified when she realised fans could see her feet on the live studio webcam.
No plans to duet: Cheryl has declined the chance to duet with Nadine
She complained: 'I suddenly got a mini panic attack before I started so took my heels off...
'Don’t show my feet. Don’t put camera on my feet. A lot of people have foot fetishes, but they wouldn't have them over mine. They’re dainty, they’re a size 3, but there’s nothing pretty about them.'
While admitting she was flattered about a recent poll which placed her as the most inspirational woman in the world, she said she was 'still a human being'.
Perhaps in a veiled hint about her marriage to Ashley, she said: 'I love inspiring other women. But I’m still a human being so obviously there are going to be times I still make mistakes a bad choice or a bad outfit or whatever but I’m hoping that still is an inspiration to women.'
Cheryl also showed her sense of humour by praising comedian Rufus Hound for his impersonation of her Fight For This Love routine on Sport Relief.
The singer was at home in bed with bronchitis when she watched Hound win the BBC spoof show.
She said: 'I loved Rufus. How good was he? He was absolutely fantastic. There were moves he created that I might steal for my tour.
'I was ill the night he was on. I was rooting him on. He cheered me up.'
