Victoria Beckham and Katie Price face off at Elton John's Oscars party... but Kelly Brook upstages them both in the glamour stakes

Battle of the Brits: Katie Price and Victoria Beckham both attended Elton John's annual AIDS Foundation party at the Oscars in Los Angeles last night


The 'froideur' between Victoria Beckham and Katie Price is well documented.

They are not known to be anything resembling friends especially after Katie's attempts at speaking to Posh last year at Elton's John's Oscars party resulted in an embarrassing snub for the glamour model.

But clearly Katie, 31, is not one to back off from a battle, and so she arrived in Los Angeles to attend Elton's party again this year, anticipating another awkward meeting with Mrs Beckham.

Katie arrived at Elton's AIDS Foundation Academy Award Party styled to within an inch of her life.

Dressed in a backless electric blue sequinned gown decorated with two huge corsages and her long extensions scraped back into a chic chignon, she looked uncharacteristically elegant.

Meanwhile the former Spice Girl turned designer wore one of her own creations, a one-shoulder nude coloured silk column gown with a pixelated print which was inspired by a Dick Tracy comic

Having turned her back on the extreme fake tanning favoured by Price, she showed off a paler complexion, and her signature super-slim silhouette.

But while Katie attempted to steal fashionista Victoria's thunder with her brilliant blue look, it was actually Kelly Brook's stylish old Hollywood look that managed to upstage them both.

Kelly, 30, wore a black tulle on white silk asymmetric gown, with a stunning pair of gold cage shoes. With her hair in a sleek up-do, and huge diamond earrings, she trounced both Katie and Posh with the effortless glamour.

The actress is in Los Angeles to promote her new film Piranha 3-D, and her well-turned out appearance may well help its chances.

Posh undoubtedly spent the night doing her best to avoid Price, who is in LA with new husband Alex Reid.

Price was not officially invited to the event, but managed to get herself an invite indirectly, according to a report.

The pair became rivals in 2000 after apparently falling out over Price's ex-lover popstar Dane Bowers.

X Factor mogul Simon Cowell also attended the event, making his red carpet debut with fiancé Mezghan Hussainy who also wore a dress from Victoria's new collection.
